What is Kinesiology?
It is a system of natural health care which combines muscle monitoring with the principles of Chinese medicine to assess energy and body function, applying a range of gentle yet powerful healing techniques to improve health, wellbeing and vitality.
Precision muscle monitoring techniques are applied to identify and correct energy blockages within the physical and metaphysical bodies.
Always the answer is somewhere inside you. Muscle monitoring is a natural feedback system using an indicator muscle, which supplies information via nerve pathways and the meridian system of the Brain and Body. Sometimes the pain in a part of the body is not where the actual problem is, that is the beauty of Kinesiology, as the muscle testing will find the actual cause of the imbalance that is creating the pain, and once the cause is found, the answers can be found.
Kinesiology bypasses conscious thinking processes to isolate causal factors in the subconscious body. Honouring this system enables the body to clear itself at its own enhanced rate and priority of healing.
Kinesiology - 'Muscle Testing or Monitoring'. is a phenomena that has been around for many, many years, (No-one knows how long). Detroit Chiropractor, Dr.George Goodheart DC (dec'd) discovered in the early 1960's that certain muscles in the body related to certain energy circuits, and that by balancing those muscles balanced the energy circuit. Goodheart developed specific muscle tests for individual muscles, then through various correction techniques, was able to rebalance the different circuits. Goodheart called his kinesiology Applied Kinesiology (AK).
Goodheart taught a number of other chiropractors these techniques. These others took Goodheart's work and developed their own style or branch of Kinesiology using the same muscle testing techniques taught by him.
Today we have over 90 different styles or branches of Kinesiology, the most well known and most popular being Touch for Health, developed by Dr. John Thie DC, recently deceased. Dr. Thie was the one person most responsible for spreading this new modality. Touch for Health is taught and used in over 50 countries worldwide.
Many websites have a variety of definitions of what Kinesiology is and what it is not, however, the following definition was approved by the Australian Kinesiology Association in 1999.
"Kinesiology encompasses holistic health disciplines which use the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information about a person's well-being. Originating in the 1960's, it combines Western techniques and Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies the elements which inhibit the body's natural internal energies and accessing the life enhancing potential within the individual."
As I said earlier, Kinesiology is muscle testing, what you do after that, is mostly taught as Kinesiology but is, in fact, different aspects of Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Acupressure and many other modalities, and that is just on the physical side. Mental, Emotional, Nutritional, Genetic, etc. imbalances occur in each of us, and there are many and varied techniques, taught by different Kinesiology's and others, that can help to correct these imbalances. All of these corrections can be accessed with precision muscle monitoring, and this is primarily the reason I have continued further study, to gain as much insight into as many different techniques as possible.
